Andean culture is the source of inspiration for the Mirasol range. By purchasing the yarn you are supporting the shepherds and their families, ensuring preservation and continuation of their traditions and helping fight poverty and encouraging community development.
Peru’s heritage and culture of textile artistry is rich and ancient. A portion of every purchase goes directly to the funding of a boarding house and education centre in the remote area of Munani in the region of Puno, a centre with creative and innovative function in preparing its children for a changing and challenging future.

By Jane Ellison. Miski was one of the first yarns in the Mirasol Yarn Collection. It’s a beautiful yarn, 100% Baby Llama, which is so incredibly soft, a delight to work with, easy and enjoyable on the needles.

By Jane Ellison. Sulka is a beautiful blend of the 60% merino wool, 20% alpaca and 20% silk, it is a chunky yarn so the combination of the weight and the fibres make it an easy, enjoyable yarn to knit and lovely to feel snuggly in.

By Jane Ellison. Ushya is an amazing yarn. It is a deliciously soft merino wool that has a tiny bit of polyamide in it to give it strength. It leads itself perfectly to many different stitch techniques from garter stitch, to a beautiful 2 row lace pattern that looks like it is trickling like a waterfall. The yarn is extra chunky so very quickly your chosen knitted item grows before your eyes.

By Jane Ellison. This is the book of Kutama garments & accessories for women. Kutama is a yarn made from 50% Alpaca and 50% Fine Highland Wool so to Jane Ellison it has Peru in it’s heart! Every time Jane uses this yarn she thinks of it’s fibres and of the Peruvian highlands and the calm.

By Jane Ellison. Hacho was one of the first yarns in the mirasol yarn collection. It is a beautiful yarn of 100% merino wool, yet with it’s twist it has a crispness that doesn’t make it feel like merino wool. The yarn is hand dyed with short colour changes that look different depending on the stitch pattern used.

By Jane Ellison. Miski has a beautiful drape and this was the inspiration Jane started with when she designed these garments. There are two accessories in this book that use two hanks of the yarn, so if you’ve never used Miski before these are perfect to start with.

By Jane Ellison. This book is a collection of Ushya and Sulka accessories. Jane wanted to create accessories that used up those odd hanks that we find make up our (ever growing) stash. They are also perfect for those who want to try out a new yarn to see how gorgeous it is to knit and instead of knitting a square or just a few rows, you can knit something pretty!
